Daniel Fast

 THE DANIEL FAST

What is Daniel Fasting?

Daniel 10: 2-3 In those days I, Daniel, was mourning for three weeks.

I ate no delicacies, no meat or wine entered my mouth, nor did I anoint myself at all, for the full three weeks. Daniel fast is a type of fast that is done in a very specific way, during which you avoid or decide not to enjoy the food that you like and choose simple foods instead. The purpose of this fast in to NOT do what you usually do, so that you can focus only on God and prayer.  The Bible does not give detailed explanation about the types of food that you cannot eat, but it is said that Daniel avoids the foods enjoyed by the king and eat only vegetables and drink only water.

Purpose of 21-Day of Daniel Prayer and Fasting:

•The purpose of every prayer and fasting is to grow closer and intimate with God

•Every time you enter a period of prayer and fasting, you will grow stronger in your spiritual life, and you'll dedicate your life more earnestly to the Lord.

•To obtain knowledge, understanding and wisdom, along with new dreams and visions, especially to live the years ahead. (Daniel 1: 17)

What Should We Do During Daniel Fasting?

During a 21-day fasting and period time, let's give our “Tithe” of time to God every day. Every day God gives us 1,444 minutes, so our daily “Tithe” of time spent in prayer is 144 minutes (2 hours and 24 minutes). To give this “Tithe” every day in prayer may sound very difficult, or even impossible, for you. But think about several things listed below that can help you fulfill this “Tithe” of prayer time:

•Pray when you are on the way to office when you are cooking, shopping, etc.

•Use your lunch time at office for prayer, reduce the time you spend on TV and use the time for prayer instead.

•When you are lying down and are unable to sleep, pray until you fall asleep.

•Go to the church or prayer tower specifically to pray.

•Try to set aside some time for devotional every day, same time, same place.

•If you are married, set aside some time to pray with your spouse.

Suggested food to be consumed in Daniel Fasting:

Seeds; Potato; Nuts; Fruits; Vegetables

Drink: mineral water (suggestion to drink water min.8 glass/day)

Food to be avoided:

•Meat and fish, anything that contain fats, processed food

•Rice

•Dried fruits, snacks, and cookies (food made of flour)

•Egg

•Soda drinks and alcoholic drinks (coffee, tea, etc.)

The Keto Life

 I LOVE THE KETO LIFE!

I have dropped 195#  and I feel great!!

I utilized the Keto Diet Regime as the core method for my weight loss.
My approach to weight loss was low to no carb, moderate fat intake, and ultra high protein intake.
CLEAN food is the key.  I myself take in only grilled skinless/boneless chicken breasts, cruciferous vegetables, leafy green vegetables, eggs, salmon, tuna, and limit my dairy to some cheese.
REMEMBER TO DRINK AT LEAST 4 LITRES OF WATER PER DAY!

At the most intense portion of my weight loss journey, I was limiting my per day calories to 1000, increased my protein to 120-150 grams per day, and was at less than 10 carbs per day.  This strategy, although not sustainable for the long run, had me dropping 10# per week.  I needed this kick start to give me encouragement.  I had nearly 200# to drop and I needed help.

I am now down 195#-200# (depending on the day) This new normal is far easier to maintain than I ever imagined.

Keys to maintenance and staying KETO:
1. Meal Prep
I cook 3-5 days at a time to make it pretty much a grab and go type meal plan.  I know 30 days in advance what I will be taking in so I can have the items purchased and waiting to go.  This step cuts back on expenses and keeps me from falling into the "Well I might as well just..." abyss.

2. Snack Time
Snacks can be a major pit fall of any new food plan.  I keep pepperoni, cooked chicken breasts, raw veggies and keto dip, and boiled eggs at the ready in the refrigerator for when I need "Something"  I also find keeping a pitcher of bone broth at the ready helps with squelching hunger pangs.

3 Exercise
You have got to do something to keep the body active and metabolism revved.  Whether it is chair yoga, floor yoga, treadmill work, or out taking a walk in nature.  45-60 minutes a day must be dedicated to this.  The goal is a minimum of 15,000 steps a day to keep the body in shape.

4 DO NOT LIE TO YOURSELF
No good is accomplished be telling yourself something that is simply not true.  Self-deception will only compound your frustration in your new Keto Life.  Own up to mistakes, take corrective action, move forward, DO NOT dwell on the past.

You may need to modify the traditional keto food pyramid to your needs.  I do not take in nearly the amount of fats that is recommended and I take in far more proteins than recommended, but I NEVER TAKE IN MORE CARBS than recommended.

We have all been given gift of life, work on making it the best for you and those around you!

Bone Broth

For thousands of years, there have been traditional foods like fermented vegetables and cultured dairy that have been touted for their health benefits, but one common healing food that is now being recognized for its incredible health benefits is bone broth. It’s so trendy that it’s a staple of the Paleo diet, bone broth supplements are common, and even bone broth shops exist now.

Indeed, bone broth benefits are numerous and extensive. To make it even better, there are many different kinds of bone broths (chicken, beef, fish, powder and more) that you can make, all bringing new health benefits of bone broth to the table.

With that in mind, let me share a few ancient secrets with you on what makes bone broth so remarkable, including its health benefits and nutrition facts.

All bone broths — beef, chicken, fish, lamb and more — are staples in the traditional diets of every culture and the basis of all fine cuisine. They’re also now a staple in the Paleo diet and the keto diet.

That’s because bone broths are nutrient-dense, easy to digest, rich in flavor and boost healing.

Bone broth or stock was a way our ancestors made use of every part of an animal. Bones and marrow, skin and feet, tendons and ligaments that you can’t eat directly can be boiled and then simmered over a period of days.

This simmering causes the bones and ligaments to release healing compounds like collagen, proline, glycine and glutamine that have the power to transform your health.

Why is bone broth good for you? Nutrition researchers Sally Fallon and Kaayla Daniel of the Weston A. Price Foundation explain that bone broths contain minerals in forms that your body can easily absorb:

  • calcium
  • magnesium
  • phosphorus
  • silicon
  • sulphur
  • and others

They contain chondroitin sulfate and glucosamine, the compounds sold as pricey supplements to reduce inflammation, arthritis and joint pain.

A study of chicken soup (broth) conducted by the University of Nebraska Medical Center wondered what it was in the soup that made it so beneficial for colds and flu. Researchers found that the amino acids that were produced when making chicken stock reduced inflammation in the respiratory system and improved digestion.

Also, research shows it can also boost the immune system and help overcome disorders like allergies, asthma and arthritis.

But it’s important to understand that most store-bought “stock” and “broth” today aren’t bone broth or, in some cases, even made from animals. Instead, companies use lab-produced meat flavors in bouillon cubes, soup and sauce mixes.

Also, manufacturers began using monosodium glutamate (MSG), which is recognized as a meat flavor but in reality, is a neurotoxin.

Remember Joint health, gut health, skin health, these are the major take aways from why you should start a regimen of bone broth!

My recipe for bone both is one that I have experimented with for some time.  You will not I do not add salt to my broth as I want to watch my sodium intake.

Ingredients:

5# Chicken leg quarters

5-8 quarts water

Boil this for 45-60 minutes, remove the meat only, leave the skin and all connective tissues and return to the stock pot.  Prior to returning the bones to the stock pot, I crack them with a pair of pliers to ensure the marrow is exposed for the nutrients to leach out into the broth

We cook our dogs food  so we combine the meat with rice and vegetables for their meals, or you can make a nice chicken salad with the meat.

To the stock pot now add:

1/2 hand of ginger, grated

2 medium onions, quartered

6 ribs celery, rough chopped

1# carrots, rough chopped

2 tsp red pepper flakes OR 2 whole red-hot peppers

2 tablespoons ground black pepper

8-10 cloves garlic, crushed

1/2 cup unfiltered apple cider vinegar with the mother

Bring to a boil in a large stock pot, reduce to a simmer and cover.

You will simmer this about 12-18 hours.  This can also be made in a large crock pot, but you will need to simmer this for 48 hours in a crock pot.

After this has simmered, I refrigerate then remove the fat that accumulates on the top.

I also save the carcass from when I roast a chicken and add this as well as any other bones you have saved from cooking chicken.  The key is you need as much connective tissue and skin as possible to ensure you reap the most benefits from the broth.  If you so desire you can add salt, I just choose not to.

During a 72 hour bone broth fast, I drink 6 cups of the broth a day; on a regular basis, I drink 1-2 cups a day
